- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups frozen mashed potatoes (or homemade)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined.
- Form the mixture into small hamburger patties and place them in the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup with Worcestershire sauce.
- Pour the soup mixture evenly over the hamburger steaks.
- Spread frozen or prepared mashed potatoes over the top of the casserole.
- Sprinkle cheddar and Parmesan cheeses on top.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the beef is cooked through and the top is golden and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
