Description
Apple Cider Braised Chicken Thighs: An Amazing Ultimate Recipe
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup chicken broth
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Place the chicken thighs skin-side down in the skillet. Sear for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown. Flip and sear the other side for another 5 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onion. Sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Pour in the apple cider and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Add the dried thyme and apple cider vinegar, mixing well. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Place the seared chicken thighs back into the skillet, skin-side up. Spoon some of the liquid over the chicken.
- Cover the skillet with a lid and reduce the heat to low. Let it braise for about 45 minutes, or until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
- Remove the lid for the last 10 minutes of cooking to allow the sauce to reduce slightly.
- Once cooked, remove from heat. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
