- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup milk or buttermilk
- 1 ½ cups finely diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for swirl)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for swirl)
- ¼ cup brown sugar (streusel)
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour (streusel)
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon (streusel)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (streusel)
- ½ cup powdered sugar (glaze)
- 1–2 teaspoons milk (glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar for the swirl. Set aside.
- In another small bowl, prepare the streusel topping by combining brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and melted butter. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk melted butter with granulated and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Whisk well. Stir in milk or buttermilk.
- Fold dry ingredients into wet mixture just until combined. Gently fold in diced apples.
- Pour half the batter into the loaf pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mix. Add remaining batter and gently swirl with a knife.
- Top with streusel topping.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cover loosely with foil if browning too fast.
- Cool in pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to wire rack. Drizzle with glaze once completely cooled.
