- 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream or whipping cream
- Black sanding sugar (optional)
- 2 cups (475 ml) vanilla ice cream, packed
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup (60 to 120 ml) milk
- 3 tablespoons (26 grams) black cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the whipped cream: Add heavy cream to a bowl. Whip at medium speed until it starts to thicken, then increase to high speed until stiff peaks form. Refrigerate.
- Rim the glass: Pour black sanding sugar into a shallow dish. Brush maple syrup on the rim of your serving glass. Dip the rim into the sanding sugar. Tap to remove excess and chill the glass for a few minutes.
- Blend the ingredients: Combine vanilla ice cream, milk, black cocoa powder, maple syrup, and vanilla extract in a blender. Blend until smooth. Add more milk if needed for desired thickness.
- Assemble your black milkshake: Pour the milkshake into the prepared glass. Top with the prepared whipped cream and optional sprinkles.
