Description
Caramelized Onion & Mushroom Crostini combines the rich, savory flavors of caramelized onions and mushrooms with the satisfying crunch of toasted baguette slices. It’s the perfect crowd-pleaser for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (such as cremini or button mushrooms)
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 French baguette, sliced into ½-inch pieces
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted (for brushing)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the baguette into ½-inch thick slices. Arrange on a baking sheet, and brush with melted butter or olive oil. Bake for 8–10 minutes until golden and crispy. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. If needed, add a splash of water to prevent sticking and enhance caramelization.
- Add sliced mushrooms to the skillet with caramelized onions, along with thyme. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the mushrooms soften, then add garlic and cook for another minute. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spoon the caramelized onion and mushroom mixture onto each toasted baguette slice. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
