Description

A hearty deep-dish pie featuring layers of ground beef, Italian sausage, pepperoni, and melted cheese, all baked in a flaky pie crust. This comforting dish is perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 ready-bake pie crusts (approx. 450 g total)
  • 200 g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 100 g shredded cheddar cheese or provolone cheese
  • 225 g ground beef
  • 225 g Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 100 g pepperoni slices
  • 350 ml pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder, plus extra for topping
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 45 ml melted butter

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat until evenly browned. Drain excess fat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  2. Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Roll out one pie crust to fit a deep-dish pie pan or deep skillet. Layer half of the mozzarella cheese over the bottom crust.
  3. Distribute the cooked meat mixture and half of the pepperoni slices over the mozzarella. Pour pizza sauce or marinara over the filling.
  4. Sprinkle Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and optional red pepper flakes over the sauce. Top with the remaining mozzarella and cheddar or provolone cheese.
  5. Arrange the remaining pepperoni slices over the cheese. Place the second pie crust over the filling and crimp edges to seal.
  6. Brush the top crust with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling. Let rest before slicing.
