Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water (distilled or tap)
  • 4 packets Unflavored Gelatin
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 15 – 20 drops Orange Essential Oil
  • 2 – 3 Thin Slices of Fresh Orange
  • Food Coloring (Orange or Yellow, optional)
  • 1 – 2 Glass Jars (small mason jars or decorative containers)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Jars: Place orange slices and any other decorative elements at the bottom of clean glass jars.
  2. Boil Water: Pour 1 cup of water into a saucepan and bring to a rolling boil.
  3. Dissolve Gelatin: Remove the saucepan from heat. Whisk in the unflavored gelatin until completely dissolved.
  4. Add Salt and Color: Stir in the salt. Add a drop or two of orange or yellow food coloring if desired.
  5. Add Fragrance: After letting the mixture cool for 1-2 minutes, mix in the orange essential oil.
  6. Pour into Jars: Carefully pour the warm gelatin mixture over the orange slices in the jars, filling them nearly to the top.
  7. Set the Gel: Allow the jars to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for 4-6 hours, or until firm.
  8. Display: Cover with a decorative, vented lid or leave the lid off to allow the fragrance to diffuse.
