  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cans Great Northern beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large Dutch oven, cook Italian sausage over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Reduce heat to medium, add onion, celery, and carrots. Cook until onions soften.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for one minute more.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper, and black pepper until well combined.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and add the beans. Bring to a simmer and cook for 6-7 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  6. Add heavy cream and spinach. Stir until spinach wilts.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with parsley.
