Description
Heavenly Homemade Lasagna is a comforting dish with rich meat sauce, creamy cheese layers, and tender pasta sheets. Perfect for family dinners and gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 lasagna noodles (oven-ready or boiled)
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend preferred)
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer uncovered for 25–30 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom. Layer noodles, ricotta, meat sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Repeat layers, ending with sauce and cheese on top.
- Cover with foil (sprayed to prevent sticking) and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley and serve.
