Description
Easy Honey Garlic Steak Bites are a quick and juicy dinner or appetizer. This recipe is perfect for busy weeknights when you need a flavorful meal fast. The sweet and savory glaze clings to tender steak pieces.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the steak cubes evenly with salt and black pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add half of the steak cubes in a single layer and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until browned and just cooked through. Remove to a plate and repeat with remaining oil and steak.
- Reduce the heat to medium. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add honey, soy sauce, and butter. Stir and simmer for 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return steak bites to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, until heated through and glazed.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Sirloin steak is recommended, but rump or ribeye can also be used. Ensure the steak is not too tough.
- Adjust garlic quantity to your preference; more garlic intensifies flavor.
- If the sauce appears too thin, increase heat slightly in the last minute to thicken, being careful not to burn the honey.
- This recipe also works with pork.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days and reheat well. Freezing is not recommended as the steak texture may become rubbery.
- Consider serving with rice, roasted potatoes, or in tortillas for a taco night. Add a side salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
- Patience during the browning stage is key for a good crust on the steak.
- Use fresh honey for the best flavor.
- Maple syrup can be substituted for honey if needed.
- Any frying pan can be used; a cast iron skillet is ideal.
- Avoid using stewing beef as it requires longer cooking times and can result in a tough texture.
- Double the sauce if you prefer extra glaze or for dipping.
