Description

Delicious and moist pear bars with a buttery graham cracker crust and a cinnamon-spiced pear filling. These easy homemade pear bars are perfect for a fall dessert or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Crust:
  • 3 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • For the Filling:
  • 2 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup peeled and diced pears (about 2 ripe pears)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, softened butter, and sugar for the crust. Blend until crumbly.
  3. Press the crust mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  4. Bake the crust for 10-12 minutes, until lightly golden.
  5. Meanwhile, in a clean bowl, combine dark brown sugar, graham cracker crumbs, and flour. Mix well.
  6. Stir in cinnamon, ginger, salt, and baking powder.
  7. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until a thick batter forms.
  8. Gently fold in the diced pear pieces.
  9. Spread the pear batter evenly over the partially baked crust.
  10. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until the center is set.
  11. Allow the pear bars to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Pears provide a subtle sweetness and soft texture that enhances when baked.
  • The graham cracker and butter crust is crisp and complements the moist pear filling.
  • Dark brown sugar adds a caramel-like depth and helps retain moisture in the pear bars.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free graham cracker crumbs.
  • For a dairy-free option, substitute butter with vegan butter or coconut oil.
  • Serve these pear bars plain, with vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream.
  • Store at room temperature for up to 3 days, in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze for up to a month.
