Description

These Easy Puff Pastry Pear Tarts with Almonds and Cinnamon offer an elegant dessert that’s simple to prepare. Enjoy buttery, flaky pastry filled with sweet pear slices, crunchy almonds, and warm cinnamon. This recipe is perfect for any occasion, from casual treats to impromptu dinner parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought, thawed)
  • 2 ripe but firm pears (Bosc or Anjou recommended), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup sliced or slivered almonds
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon apricot jam or honey for glazing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (approx 400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unfold the puff pastry sheet and place it on the lined sheet. Score a border about 1cm (1/2 in) from the edges.
  2. In a bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Arrange the pear slices within the scored border, fanning them out slightly. Brush the pears and exposed pastry with the butter-sugar mixture.
  4. Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the pears. Dust with a little extra cinnamon sugar.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden, and the pears are tender.
  6. Optional: Warm apricot jam or honey with a teaspoon of water and brush over the tarts for a glaze.
  7. Let the tarts cool slightly before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free puff pastry.
  • You can substitute other fruits like apples or peaches, and nuts like walnuts or pecans.
  • Add a pinch of cardamom or nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 day or refrigerate for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in a warm oven or toaster oven.
