  • 4 cups pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Sea salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Line a 13×9 inch baking sheet with parchment paper, extending over the edges. Spread 4 cups of pretzel sticks evenly on the parchment.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, melt 1 cup unsalted butter. Stir in 1 cup packed brown sugar and 1/2 cup granulated sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, and cook for 3-5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  3. Carefully pour the hot caramel mixture evenly over the pretzels, spreading with a spatula if needed to coat.
  4. Melt 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips using a microwave or double boiler until smooth. Drizzle melted chocolate evenly over the caramel and pretzels. Immediately sprinkle generously with sea salt, to taste.
  5. Chill the bark in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until completely firm. Once set, lift the parchment paper to transfer the bark to a cutting board and break into irregular pieces. Store in an airtight container at cool room temperature or in the refrigerator.
