Description
A Healthy Anti-Inflammatory Drink for Cozy Days
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of choice)
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey for sweetness)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric (for anti-inflammatory benefits)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of ground black pepper (to enhance turmeric absorption)
- Optional: a few dashes of cayenne pepper (for a spicy kick)
- Whipped coconut cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the almond milk (or milk of choice) until it’s hot but not boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent it from scalding.
- Once the milk is heated, add the cocoa powder, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, and a pinch of black pepper to the saucepan. Whisk everything together until smooth and well combined.
- Add the maple syrup (or your preferred sweetener) and vanilla extract to the mixture. Stir until everything is well combined and the cocoa is heated through. If you prefer a spicier cocoa, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper for an extra kick.
- Pour the hot cocoa into your favorite mug and top with whipped coconut cream (optional). You can also sprinkle a little extra cinnamon on top for added flavor and garnish.
