Description

Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers (about 40 crackers)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Lay saltine crackers in a single layer, close together on the baking sheet.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan, add brown sugar, and stir constantly for 3–4 minutes until bubbly and thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  4. Quickly pour the toffee over the crackers and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 5–7 minutes until the toffee is bubbling and golden.
  6. Remove from oven, sprinkle chocolate chips, let soften 2–3 minutes, then spread into a smooth layer.
  7. Sprinkle lightly with sea salt.
  8. Cool for 30 minutes, then refrigerate 1–2 hours until set.
  9. Break into pieces or slice into squares and enjoy.
